Two fans that are easy to confuse
Many electric Wolf ovens keep a cooling fan running after the oven is switched off, and Wolf notes that a well-insulated cavity can take hours to cool. That hum is normal and is not the convection fan. The convection fan sits behind the cover at the back of the cavity and only matters while you cook. On a Wolf all-gas range, Wolf also advises leaving the convection fan off until the oven is up to temperature, because switching it on during preheat can make the oven shut off. What the sound tells us
A rattle from the back wall, a dry grind, a fan that slows and restarts, and uneven browning at a correct average temperature all lead back to the fan. On the ridge in Mount Baker, as in any house with a double oven, each cavity has its own fan and is tested on its own.
If the fan is sound but never starts, the fault has moved to the controls, priced on the control board page.
What moves it inside the band

- A bent or loose blade is a smaller job than a motor with worn bearings, and a blade damaged along with its motor is priced into the same job.
- What tells the fan to run
- If the motor tests sound but never gets power, the fault sits in the control side and the work moves to the control board band.
- Single or double oven
- Each cavity has its own fan, and the lower oven of a double wall oven or a wide range can take longer to open up.
